Dog Sports ANKC/FCI Approved

It’s a sport of the teamwork (you and your dog) your both evaluated within your class in your selected disciplines. Disciplines include; Agility, Obedience. Endurance, Tracking. Rally O (is a new Discipline) to name but a few. Again there are many choices of activities of disciplines and many people try them all, more information listed below on some of the disciplines available

  • Conformation Shows

    Champion Shows:

    These shows have Challenge Certificates available for the best dog and bitch of each breed. Points are awarded as follows; five (5) plus one (1) point for each animal of that sex which actually competes, thus a minimum of six (6) to a maximum of 25 (twenty five) per show. A dog, which earns 100 points, entitled to be recognized as an Australian Champion.

    Open Shows:

    These shows are in the same format as Champion Shows, however Challenge Certificates are not available and Champions may only compete if the schedule permits.

  • Obedience

    Most handlers start off at their local obedience club and trial when their dog reaches a suitable level.

    Members Competitions

    A Breed Group runs these, or Kennel Clubs and only members may enter. It is about learning the different groups held and run on show days or obedience trials, most time it is about best dress and having a lot of fun. These are shows approved by the ANKC/Member Body, and usually are for charity or in conjunction with other community activity.

  • Tracking

    Three (3) Titles are available:

    TD. Tracking Dog

    TDX Tracking Dog Excellent

    TC. Tracking Champion

    Tracking Clubs can offer for more for those who wish to continue.

  • Obedience Trialing

    Titles that available in the Obedience Ring are:

    C.C.D. Community Companion Dog. (CCD) (this Title does NOT go towards your OC)

    C.D. Companion Dog. (Novice)

    C.D.X. Companion Dog Excellent. (Open)

    UD. Utility Dog. (UD)

    OC. Obedience Champion. (OC)

    UDX. Utility Dog Excellence. (UDX)

    (This Title does NOT go towards your OC)

    The title of the OC will be offered at a high level standard.

    To earn a Title, a dog must gain three (3) passes at that level, a pass is minimum score of 170 from a possible 200 and have all exercises in the Test must be passed also dogs which have their CDX and UD may compete at those levels at their pleasure.

  • Agility

    Cover a course of Obstacles:

    The dog must complete every obstacle within a pre-determined time limit.

    This discipline provides three (3) classes of competition and resultant Titles.

    Three Titles are on offer.

    AD. Agility Dog

    ADX. Agility Dog Excellent

    ADM. Agility Dog Masters AD and ADX >> Three (3) passes are needed for this title, while for the much more difficult

    Masters title, seven (7) passes are required.

  • Herding

    This new sport that has into the canine world of Australia in the latter part of 2006.

    These Titles can be gained and are recognized through the ANKC.

    HTDX Champion Herding Trial Dog

  • Endurance Test

    To gain the Endurance Test title (ET), the dog, accompanied by a handler usually on foot or bicycle, must cover 20 kilometers, there are veterinary checks before, during and after the test and their the dog must be able to pass a basic obedience exercise at the end to qualify.

  • Flyball

    Obedience clubs or other groups often offer this fun activity.

    There are many web sites dedicated to the sport.

  • Search and Rescue:

    SAR have courses for those who wish to do search & rescue
